Niels Ackermann is a Swiss photojournalist working for international press since 2007, founding member of agency Lundi13. He lives in Kyiv, Ukraine since 2015. He's also awarded Swiss Press Photographer of the year 2016.

Magazine L’Hebdo selected him in 2015 as one of the 100 young Swiss shaping the future of Switzerland.

After working for four years on youth near Chernobyl for his project The White Angel, published in a book by Les Editions Noir Sur Blanc and rewarded by all of the major swiss photographic awards, Niels now works on Ukraine's decommunisation process. These documentary projects all aim to bring a more nuanced vision of Ukraine by challenging the usual western stereotypes about this country.

Niels also co-developed the project «Genève, sa gueule» an ongoing civic project with the city of Geneva to promote diversity trough a growing serie of portraits and biographic data collection.
He also gives regular conferences and workshops about documentary photography, freelancing and fundings of personal projects.

Aside from photography, Niels also likes to write. He writes a blog named L'oeil de Kiev for Swiss newspaper Le Temps where he relates some strange elements of Ukrainian life seen through the eyes of a Swiss.
